INDIA TRAVEL - Itinerary
DAY 01 ARRIVE DELHI
The capital of India, Delhi blends an historic past and a vibrant present. The Imperial city planned for the British by Lutyens is set in parks and shaded avenues. Legend has it that Delhi, then called Indraprastha, was originally founded around 1200 B.C. by the Pandavas, the august heroes of the epic Mahabharata. Present day Delhi is built around the ruins of seven ancient cities.
Arrive Delhi by PR flight at 0145 hrs. Garlanding with fresh flowers upon arrival at airport.
Meeting and assistance on arrival and transfer to hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 02 DELHI -JAIPUR BY ROAD (B,L,D)
Breakfast at hotel. Morning city sightseeing tour of New Delhi visiting Qutab Minar, India Gate (War Memorial), drive past President's House, Parliament House and Secretariat Buildings. Lunch at city restaurant.
After lunch drive to Jaipur (265 km / 165 miles /approx 5 hrs drive). Upon arrival at Jaipur, check-in at hotel.
Dinner and overnight at hotel.
DAY 03 IN JAIPUR (B,L,D)
Jaipur, popularly known as the Pink City, was founded in 1727 ADby one of the greatest rulers of the Kachhawaha clan, theastronomer king Sawai Jai Singh. The pink color was used at the time of making to create an impression of red sandstone buildings of Mughal cities -and repainted in 1876, during the visit of the Prince of Wales. The city is best explored on foot and the adventurous visitor willing to go into the inner lanes can discover a whole new world not visible to the tourist-in-a-hurry.
Breakfast at hotel. Morning excursion to Amer Fort with elephant ride. Amber Fort the ancient capital of
the State until 1728. Visit the Jag Mandir or the Hall of victory glittering with mirrors, Jai Mahal and Temple of Kali. Ascend on Elephant back, the hill, on which the fort is situated. Lunch at city restaurant.
After lunch city sightseeing tour of Jaipur, visiting Maharaja's City Palace, the Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds), the Royal Observatory, Albert Hall. Later drive through this Pink City's business and residential areas.
Dinner and overnight at hotel.
DAY 04 JAIPUR – AGRA BY CAR (B,L,D)
The Taj Mahal was built by the third Mughal emperor of India, Shah Jahan in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died during childbirth. Although it is not known for sure who planned the Taj Mahal, the name of an Indian architect of Persian descent, Ustad Ahmad Lahori, has been cited in many sources. As soon as construction began in 1630,
masons, craftsmen, sculptors, and calligraphers were summoned from Persia, the Ottoman Empire, and Europe to work on the masterpiece. It took 12 years of hard labour and 20,000 labourers to build the mausoleum.
Breakfast at hotel.
Morning drive to Agra (235 km / 147 miles / approx 5 hrs drive). Lunch en route. Upon arrival at Agra, check-in at hotel.
Afternoon visit Agra Fort near the gardens of the Taj Mahal stands the important 16thcentury
Mughal monument known as the Red Fort of Agra. This powerful fortress of red sandstone encompasses, within its 2.5-km-long enclosure walls, the imperial city of the Mughal rulers. It comprises many fairy-tale palaces, such as the Jahangir Palace and the Khas Mahal, built by Shah Jahan; audience halls, such as the Diwan-i-Khas; and two very beautiful mosques. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
DAY 05 AGRA – DELHI BY CAR & LEAVE DELHI (B,L,D)
Return to hotel for breakfast. Morning drive to Delhi (205 km / 128 miles / approx 4-5 hrs drive).
Lunch en route. Upon arrival at Delhi, transfer to city center for last minute shopping.
Evening dinner at city restaurant. After dinner transfer to international airport to connect flight for onward
destination. Reporting time at the airport would be 2355 hrs.
