BATANES

The province of Batanes, located in the northernmost tip of the Philippine archipelago, is nearer to Taiwan than to the Luzon mainland.

Batanes, the only place in the Philippines with winter, is a photographer’s dream, offering endless, breathtaking views of mountain and sea.  A place claiming to have zero crime rate, Batanes is home to the friendly and polite Ivatans.

DAY 1: Arrive noon. Visit a nearby place such as the light house, take a stroll around the hills in the area and watch the sunset

DAY 2: Batan Island tour – join a whole day tour that would take you on a loop along the coastal road from Mahatao, to the towns of San Vicente, Ivana, Uyugan, Songsong, Itbud, Imnajbu, and back to Mahatao. Along the way you’ll pass by ‘Marlboro’ country, Mahatao fishing village, Ghost Town, old church ruins, Naidi Hill, Radar Tukon (with breathtaking 360 views), Boulder Beach, and usually will have lunch at Makabuang beach. If there is time at the end of the day, hang out at a nice spot and watch another sunset

DAY 3: Sabtang Island Tour. If the weather is good, ride a falowa (expect the crossing to be a bit rough) to Sabtang island and visit Chavayan town where you can see beautiful Batanes stone houses, even more great views, and an idjang (rocky hill) where old villages were built on.
